About Me

Hey friends!  I'm Kelly, a 20-something legal assistant who started this blog for myself for FUN because cooking is my absolute passion and I love to write.  I'm a snarky blonde and former sorority girl with tons of ambition as well as an unhealthy obsession with my yorkie Oliver who is pretty much my child (please see below).  I love fashion, traveling, exploring new things and me and running definitely have a love/hate relationship!  I'm planning on training for a half marathon soon and hope to develop a true love for running.

{HOPE being the operative word}

Here's my little pup Oliver.  Don't underestimate his tiny exterior, he's quite the little guard dog! (Least he thinks so)

(Oliver at 16 weeks old)

 (Oliver at 1 year old)

 A lot different, huh??

I LOVE wine and my absolute favorite is Moscato (yes I'm a sweet wine drinker) but I'm still trying to find a good red!!  I could spend every weekend going to different wineries and living in Virginia is the perfect location!

Most importantly, I'm a HUGE Redskins fan!  Me and my boyfriend have season tickets and never miss a home game....I mean NEVER.  One time I went with what felt like pneumonia and still managed to cheer our boys on!  That's dedication I tell ya.

Oh and did I mention?? I'm in love and he's the most amazing man ever <3

As for my blog, it began when I started my usual summer diet last spring and have been loving it ever since. It's the perfect way to keep myself motivated and to share my favorite recipes with everyone else.  I'm still new at cooking so I'm obviously no chef, but I learn something new with every dish that I make and I really have fun in the kitchen.  I've never been the type of girl that can eat whatever she wants and stay thin, nope... I'm usually the one that goes on horribly-bad-for-you failing crash diets and slaves in the gym every summer so I can look even remotely decent on the beach.

With that said, my goal is that this blog will give myself a complete lifestyle change in that I don't have to nibble on carrot sticks or celery every day to stay thin...I can actually look forward to yummy foods that are filling without worrying about gaining 10 pounds!  Like I said, I do this blog for fun in my spare time to keep myself accountable, but if others find these recipes fun and helpful, well then that's just amazing :)  Thanks for reading!

You have some really wonderful recipes here. Great job!

My brother is currently finishing his Army basic training. He'll move on to Airborne in two more weeks then will be at his first post. It's tough to be the big sister of a military man, but I am so proud and respect him so much!

Thanks so much Kelsey! Yes I can totally agree with you, it really IS hard to be the older sister of a man in the military, but it is such an honor! I couldn't be more proud of him and please tell your brother thank you for his service!!

Hey Kelly! I really like what you have going on here! I feel like I can totally relate to you. I have always struggled with my weight and lost a ton of it my senior year of college! So I know what it's like to try to maintain a healthy diet.

I, too, have a Yorkie, Pippy, whom I love soooo much! He's crazy and cute and spunky. He definitely keeps me on my toes!

I also know the pain of living in a military family. My handsome boyfriend is in the Army and deployments are no fun! I hope your brother comes home safely and healthy!

I have a foodie blog. It's called Cooking with Mel [www.lifewithmel.com] I hope you check it out sometime or "like" me on facebook!!

I look forward to following your cooking journey! :)

Hi Mel!! Thank you so much for your comments, your such a sweetheart! I checked out your blog and I really love it, consider me your new follower :) Your yorkie's name is TOO cute! That's awesome your boyfriend is in the Army, but I'm sure it's hard. I have so much respect for him. Thanks again for checking out my site and I look forward to sharing recipes and stories! <3

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for visiting Prep2eat
http://www.prep2eat.blogspot.com/
I am enjoying your blog and look forward to your new posts.
Eating healthy does not mean starving...being creative in the kitchen and adding spices kicks-up flavor in fresh food.
A little exercise works wonders, too :)

Your blog is awesome! Just wanted to shout that out. Also, I see that you like moscato. Lauren and I just tried the best moscato blend at this wine bar. It's called Obsession. It's not as sweet as normal, but SO good!

Ok that is all for now.

Hey Kelly!

My sister had a little 6 lb. Yorkie names Oliver too! He's no longer around, but was a cutie like yours.

And thank you for putting me on your Blogroll! I've got you on mine, but I'm not sure people can find it very easily with this design.

Hi! I noticed you said you like wine and are looking for a good red. I am also a sweet wine drinker. When I do drink red, I really like a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. It's got a nice spiciness to it and if you get the right kind, it'll knock your socks off!

Kelly said...

Oh thank you so much Elizabeth! That sounds so delicious :) I'll have to try and find that!
