Super Bowl Recap and Skinny Appetizer Picks!

WOW what a game last night!  I'm not a fan of either one of the teams, but I must say that the Giants played their asses off!!  I really thought Tommy would pull it out in the end, but sadly he did not.  Either way, yesterday was a fun-filled day of family, food and hilarious commercials.

Well....sorta.

Not sure I was a fan of a lot of the commercials this year!  I mean ok the baby grabbing the Doritos bag, yeah that was pretty cute.  And I thought the Here We Go rescue dog was one of the best...oh and don't even get me started on John Stamos or David Beckham.  Wow.  But all in all I was pretty disappointed.  RIP the days when Britney made us WANT to drink Pepsi...sigh.

However, despite the crap Facebook has been clogging up in my newsfeed since last night, I thought Madonna killed it!  She was awesome!  Seriously people, she's pushing 56 and can still hold her own when it comes to a performance, she's an icon.  I wasn't a fan of her new song AT ALL, I mean this isn't an Old Navy commercial, annnnd if you can get past her super annoying ego for about 8 minutes, she totally made up for it by singing Like a Prayer with Cee Lo...freakin' brilliant ending.

Soo enough of my Super Bowl ranting, lemme share with you my skinny appetizer picks from the round-up you all participated in!  There were some absolutely amazing recipes and it was hard to just pick 10, but I did so here ya go!

1. Edamame Guacamole Recipe - Two Peas and Their Pod

2. Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips - Greens and Chocolate

3. 7 Layer Mexican Dip - Girl in the Green Apron

4. Crab Stuffed Mushrooms - Cajunlicious

5. Buffalo Chicken Wontons - Peanut Butter and Peppers

6. Mini Gouda Apple Honey Puffs - The Realistic Nutritionist

7. Guilt-Free Nachos - Peas and Crayons

9. Cilantro-Lime Black Bean Salsa - The Foodie Entourage

10. Sweet and Spicy Pepitas - MJ's Kitchen

For more skinny appetizers, check out all the delicious recipes shared in my Skinny Super Bowl Snack Round-Up!  The Super Bowl may be over, but these are perfect for any party!

Oh and just because you know you want to be reminded of how awesome Britney used to be.

You're welcome.

Great round up! I totally agree with you on Madonna - she rocked it and I was shamelessly singing along to Like a Prayer in my living room.

I was quite disappointed with the commercials this year as well. Coke really needs to get out of its rut with those bears! LOVED Like a Prayer with Cee Lo, but then I do like Cee Lo! Thank you so much for featuring my pepitas! I'm flattered especially with so many other delicious looking recipes! We did eat a batch during the SB yesterday, so I have to say that they are fabulous! :) I've marked several other snacks to try. Great Hop and thanks for hosting!

I could not have said it better. I totally agree about the Super Bowl. Madonna was good, I was not blown away, but like a prayer made up for that. So glad she added that. I remember years past being so impressed with the commercials. What happened? All these appetizers look fabulous. I am going have to try some of these for my daughter's birthday party. Thanks for sharing.

I was not impressed with the commercials either. Well, other than that hotness that is David Beckham. And I liked the Sketchers commercial with the dog. Love all your skinny apps!!

I was all about Madonna singing old school Madonna. The tunes I loved as a girl were lost on the husband, though! As for the food, I want some of that fruit salad real bad!

Michelle said...

I dunno why but I randomly watched this Britney commercial about a month ago; she was one hot lady back then and I was totally jealous of her hair and her body...mostly her body. Like she drinks regular Pepsi....sheesh; give that girl a can of Diet Pepsi and you might have it right ;)

Erin @ Dinners, Dishes and Desserts said...

Totally agree with Madonna. The new song is HORRIBLE!!! Sounds like Old Navy, and horribly pop music. But she did great with the old songs - just wish she would have actually sang them. But hell, if I could be in half that shape when I am 40, I would be thrilled!

I agree with the Madonna comments. I think she kinda rocked it, especially considering her age.

What a super list of snacky recipes - love the look of them all. Also love Madonna. She still rocks and many of the newbies out there have a tough act to follow. We don't have superbowl but the 7 Nations rugby in Europe. I'm going crazy... for these dishes.

Thank you for picking my Buffalo Wontons for your round up. Everything looks wonderful. I think this Saturday night will be appetizer night, so I can try these recipes. Love appetizer night!!

The food looks delish! Madonna was awesome...all I wanted to do was sing louder than I was and bust several moves (but that would not have worked since I was at a friends party where I only knew 1 person...ha!). I absolutely love Brit Brit...wish she was back on the Pepsi scene as well!!

Just like a Pray was my favorite part too. I think people gave her too much crap. It was one of the better shows from the last several years.
