You didn't think I was going to go a whole week sharing skinny Super Bowl appetizers and not give you a cocktail recipe, did you??
Are you crazy?!
These beer-garitas are a staple at our summer parties and tailgates so why not have them during the Super Bowl?? I mean beer + margaritas = a pretty freakin' good time! Plus considering it was literally 70 degrees out today, I figured they were completely appropriate.
A typical beer-garita is easily made with one can of limeade, 2 bottles of beer and a 1/2 cup of tequila. But a skinny beer-garita is made using a bit more effort...but sooo worth the reward!
Making your own homemade limeade is super easy and saves you over 100 calories! All you need are 3 limes, Splenda sugar blend and water...voila! Simple as ever. I thought about substituting the tequila for Skinny Girl margarita mix, but c'mon folks, it's the Super Bowl. There shall be no skimping on the tequila, pretty sure that should be a rule.
Now I just want to note that a few studies have been done and it seems that alcohol may have a much faster effect on you when mixed with artificial sweeteners so please consider this when drinking these or any other diet-related mixers with your alcohol. I tend to do this a lot so this is good to know!

I used MGD 64 brand beer to cut calories, but any Mexican beer would taste amazing if you don't mind the extra calories. Next time I might try the lemonade flavor MGD 64 to give my beer-garita a lemon-lime flavor. Who knows, might be an epic combination!

I LOVE beergaritas!! Weird thing is, I don't like beer but I can't get enough of these guys :)
These look so pretty! I bet they taste great!
Haha, a beergarita? brilliant! Looks sooo delicious, too!
Those are totally happening this weekend! Thanks for the recipe.
I might end up still inverting a corona in mine... but with these stats: no shame to be seen!
Those look great! Thanks so much for all of these recipes, I can't wait to make them for sunday!!
Wow, beer-garitas. I have obviously been missing out on life thus far. I can't wait to make these!
YUMMMY! Ahem,,,but I think I can only have a beer....breastfeeding woes...
YUMMO! Definitely just starred this one in my google reader for the super bowl/tonight/whatever! Thanks for sharing :)
YUM!
These look wonderful. I love lime anyway I can get it. I can't wait to make my own "skinny" lime-ade. And I really love beer, so I can't wait to try!
I think I seriously love you for this. BEER-garita. Awesomeness. :)
These sound good!!! Luckily, I'm not a fan of high calorie cocktails. The ones I like tend to be the ones that are a little lower! They also look yummy!!!
Looks great! I had a C*r&^a-rita once (unnamed Mexican Beer ;) and loved it but I hate the fake margarita mix..blech!! I make mine with stevia, lime juice and water. Other than that mine is pretty much like yours! Good stuff, I love them!
These look so tasty (and pretty too!). Love your blog. I'm a new follower.

Are you sure about the point values here? half a cup (4 oz) of tequila is about 10PP and MDG 64 are 2 points per bottle...the alcohol alone is 14 points, that would be over 3 PP in alcohol alone if this makes 4 servings...
Yes Ariana, you are correct! Based on the old points system this is about 4 points per drink, however based on the fat, carbs, fiber and protein the Points plus value is 1. I get confused all the time as to why they don't calculate calories so that's why I put both! :)
Kelly, this look awesome. I can't wait till Sunday, I am making these today. It is a gorgeous day in Florida, I am not sure I can wait for them to freeze overnight, may have to sneak a taste tonight.
Cant wait to try these on sunday! Thanks!
Aw, hello Kelly! So nice to meet you and thank you so much for your super sweet comment. Your blog is absolutely adorable and these beer-garitas sound amazing!! xo veronika
These look AWESOME!!!! I am so making these!
Sounds good, especially the make~your~own limeade.
girl I would loooooove to go out and hit the town for a few cocktails with you. This is gorgeous! And then we could swap tequilla stories. Lol
I've never had a Beer-garita. I might just have to try this :) Thanks for sharing!
oh my eff! I am loving this already. In Texas some bars serve a big a$$ margarita with a long neck mexican beer dumped in. There is no excuse, but I've never tried it. I LOVE beer and I love margs, so this is like you said ...epic. I can't wait to test this out!!
Yes, please!!! :)
amaazing pics friend.
i love beer and margs so am loving this recipe!
Kelly, you're killing me with your amazing superbowl recipes!! This is yet another great recipe annnddd the best part, they are all healthier than the normal snacks. YAY :D!!
Oh yum! Funny we see all the super bowl snacks, and finally a drink is posted. This looks wonderful! I will defiantly make this on Super Bowl Sunday!!
I love this and I need this! Making these soon :)
http://blondesguidetotheworld.blogspot.com/
I love that you make your own limeade...that's the key to getting the calories down. LOVE beer margs!
Oohh, these look good!!
Kelly these look delicious... and I have a small love affair with margaritas as well so this is perfect. I am not so much for using fake sugar but I am sure this would be just as excellent with raw turbano so I have to try it out!!!
Beautiful pic's too! Nicely done.
We drink lots of margaritas in our house, so I'm extra happy to see a SKINNY rita! Extra effort sounds worth it to me! YUM
These look amazing! I can't wait to have a go at them! and I absolutely love your photography!
Wow Kelly! These look so amazing! I cannot wait to try these when I go over to my parents house to enjoy the super bowl! I love your blog so much and would love anything to have a blog like yours! Your so pretty too! SO NOT FAIR!
i'm a new reader and WOW - i can't wait to try this recipe! plus it's a great way to use up beer that maybe i wouldn't normally drink :)
The extra worth it totally worth it, these look awesome! And beer + margarita?? The super bowl just got so much better :)
That MGD 64 Lemonade sounded like a good idea when I bought it at the store, but it was so nasty. I do not recommend it at all. I'm sure it would ruin what sounds like a delicious recipe!
Love this! My favorite drink is a michelada which is like a beer bloody mary. Now I need to get to work at making it skinny!
This is awesome! Love it!! I love your blog! definitely a follwer!
this look great! I wanted to let you know that I featured this in my "What I Bookmarked This Week" post - stop by and see!
I have been thinking of trying a simple syrup using Splenda, but assumed it would be a disaster! I am super jazzed you made these! In our house, we love all things citrus.
I can't wait to try these, but admittedly, will wait until we are somewhere over freezing again here :)
Thanks for the new take on a favorite drink!
Mmm! This sounds great! I'm a beer lover and don't really like mixed drinks, but I could do this!
True! I hate that that you can't calculate alcohol by the usual fat, carb, fiber, protein formula! Broke my heart once i realized my beloved Michelob Ultras weren't just one point!
So... just to be clear (cause it seems to be too good to be true) there are 231 calories in 24oz of this deliciousness? Total? Or 231 calories in one serving (6oz)?
I just built these in the recipe builder on the WW site. They are 7 Points+ per drink. Which is still better than a regular margarita!
Trying this out tonight for National Margarita Day! Thanks!
I was wondering about the nutrition. Is it 231 cal for 1 6 oz margarita?
Yes it is :) That's my Fitness Pal said when I plugged in everything, 231 cals for a 6 oz. serving
I know this is an older post I'm commenting on...but I am so jazzed to try these! They remind me of my favorite French drink, Desperados (tequila flavored beer...no idea why it's French, but it is and it's seemingly impossible to come by in the States). Thanks!
Cannot wait to try these! Just found on pintrest and I'm obsessing!
I have to try this :) Something I've missed for ages.
I bet this would work out if you poured your mixture in ice cube trays, freeze, Then when you are ready, put it in the blender?!
I bet it would be good to pour your mixture in ice cube trays, freeze, and then put in blender when you are ready:)
Loving it. its long since i prepared this, Thanks and it will be on cards. How Many Calories Counter
I love this recipe!! I've been making these for years, with only slight variation. We use limeade, one can of beer, fill the limeade container with tequila, and fill the limeade container with Sprite Zero, too. It's always the best and always requested! It's so fool proof, too. Next time I make it, I'm going to try to make my own limeade!! Thanks for the idea and sharing this fabulous cocktail! :) I love your blog!
I'm thinking that if you didn't want to wait for the limeade to freeze, you could put it in the blender with a few frozen strawberries to make a quick frozen drink! Strawberry beer-garitas!
I'm so excited to try this for my Pinterest party next weekend! I might make a batch before the party, I'm not sure I can't wait another week.
These are the best I've ever had. I don't even really count calories but I looovvvveee the natural limeade. You rock girl. I love your site. Thanks for all the fabulous recipes. I'm looking forward to more of your great ideas. This is my new favorite blog. Keep up the great work sister!!!!
