Food props anyone??

Ok so can I just express to you my love affair with Etsy???
It's serious people and I'm officially addicted.
Now I know most of you can probably relate,
but as my obsession with photography develops,
so does my love for food styling.
Etsy has some fabulous {not to mention inexpensive!} items that would make perfect food props for your photos!

Check out these vintage milk bottles I found, LOVE!

Or these adorable paper straws {in LOTS of colors} that would pair perfectly with my new milk bottles!

And check out this little gem, burlap makes an amazing rustic background for your photos.  Newest obsession.

And last, but not least, how bout some old vintage mason jars?  I'm thinking about putting some tea candles in them and hanging them on the back deck!

via

So if you've already searched your local thrift stores, yard sales or even your grandma's house for vintage items with no such luck, Etsy is the way to go!  You'll find vintage spoons, pretty fabric and place mats or even old tea cups...seriously, it has everything!

Even got myself this cute scarf too.

I've been searching endlessly for all things texture and fun for my food photos. Next stop, Etsy!
World Market has some awesome stuff too, especially when you can find it on sale!

I hear ya! I'm going to have to make a whole shelf just for props. Also make sure you hit up estate sales especially on the last day when they're looking to clear things out at a bigger discount.

I love checking out antique stores and thrift stores for great inexpensive props...I don't have that many but I am always on the prowl.

Thanks for sharing this site with us! I shop for my food props at local stores, Ebay and Ikea but hadn't heard of this site before. I'm checking it out right now and am hooked so far. Have a good one =]

Ooh, now you've caused trouble :) I love bottles and jars. I just went on Etsy and searched "jars" and up came all these lovely options. Now where in my postage stamp sized kitchen am I supposed to display the ones I want? :)

I love all of these different pieces! I feel like all I ever do is use my mason jars for pictures but they just look too good! I really want straws like that though! So cute!

The thing I love most about Etsy this year? Log in through Facebook and it makes gift suggestions for all your friends based on their Facebook profile. So cool.

You can do it here: http://www.etsy.com/gifts

I share your obsessions, Darling. It's a good thing I don't have time to get on etsy or I'd be in big trouble. I have a secret for you... you know the Starbucks frapuccino in the bottle from the regular grocery store? Take of the label and voila you have "vintage" milk bottles. In case you need more :)

I love etsy, too. I like to buy clothes from etsy, some of my etsy finds have ended up in my cooking videos on youtube so I can relate to the exhilaration that comes from finding that perfect little thing you want to show off to the world. :)

I'm totally obsessed with food props/styling too! I never thought about getting things from Etsy though... that could get dangerously addictive! I think I need to back away from the computer now.

I love Etsy even though for the life of me I have no idea how to pronounce it. I clearly have issues. I am loving the milk jugs. I would take 10 seriously! During my wedding planning I spent whole days browsing ideas and buying away.

Leanne said...

OMG. ETSY is my Favorite. I got everything for my wedding there from different artists and it was such a nice personal touch. I haven't even thought to look there for props, but I will!
