My First Blate!

So, aside from being horribly sick this past week, I did have fun going on my first blate with Claire from The Realistic Nutritionist!  Now if y'all don't know already, blate is basically blogger + date = blate {thanks again Megan for this awesome word!}  Any hoo!  Claire was one of the first people I met when I started blogging and we have so much in common!  She is probably one of the nicest people ever and after talking ALL the time with her, we finally realized we both live in the same area so why not hang out??

We couldn't have picked a better day to meet and her friend Mary was such a sweetheart.  We all had such a blast at Sunset Hills Vineyard in Purcellville, Virginia and seriously what a gorgeous winery it is!!  The winery is in an old restored barn from the 1870's that is absolutely gorgeous and there is just so much history surrounding it.  There barn has two levels, a huge section reserved for tasting as well as wrap around porches and two-story decks for you to enjoy the wine and fabulous views outside.  The wine we tasted was some of the best I've had, my favorite being the their Sunset White {which I of course had to buy a bottle of, would you expect nothing less??}  But if you like red wine, I would seriously suggest you try their Cabernet Franc which is their staple, it's amazing!  They also had a large variety of delicious cheeses, breads and crackers to go along with the wine.  Yummmm.

We were lucky on Saturday as they had a live band set up and lots of people brought their dogs along with them to enjoy the weather and drink wine.  Doesn't get much better than music, wine and good friends.  It's also a perfect location to play around with your camera!

Pretty, huh??

All in all it was a fabulous day and we're already planning our next winery trip...with our pups of course :)  We all know Oliver's a wino!

What a great outing for you two. I have seen other posts where bloggers have hooked up. While we all enjoy blogging, a face to face is better. Glad you had fun on your blate!

Look at you two beautiful bloggers! I love that winery as well. Virginia is filled with wonderful places like that. I truly miss my home state. I know I know. I'm only in Baltimore but it feels like a world away when I'm so busy. I must spend a weekend down there in the vineyards soon.
