HAPPY LABOR DAY FRIENDS!
As most of you know, I'm on vacation right now getting my tan on with some refreshing cocktails down at Smith Mountain Lake. Ahh the life. If only our lives could be this enjoyable every day. Lucky for you all, I have a fabulous guest blogger to share with you while I'm gone! Do you ever come across one of those blogs that you end up becoming a mini stalker because you can't stop reading their posts?? Guilty. That is exactly what happened when I found Jessica's blog Monster Cakes. Not only does she love to bake, but she shares her amazing photography, fashion sense and adorable little family. Her quirky attitude and sassy writing is so much fun to read and did I mention she's hilarious?? Her blog is a MUST read!
So without further ado, please welcome the lovely Jessica!

Hello new friends! My name is Jessica, and I'm excited to be here and share about a recent food endeavor I've embarked on. You can normally find me over at Monster Cakes, my happy place where I share snippets of my day and adventures with my mister and our giant pups.
I typically try to eat pretty clean and healthy, but lately I've been in a food rut and lost motivation. My dreams are being invaded with bon bons and extra cheesy pizza, making it hard to focus on my veggies during the day. After reading this post by my blogging buddy Keira, I thought I'd give a green smoothie a try. I was in the mood for something new and different, so I went and bought my veggies that day, and my green smoothie adventure began the next morning.
I've drank my green concoctions for breakfast every day for about three weeks now, and I'm so happy with the results that I can't imagine giving it up. I even look forward to drinking it, which I cannot say about my first questionable batch. Not only does it feel great to be getting my veggies in, but starting my day out right sets the tone for the way I eat all day. And the energy! Oh the energy... I used to walk around with an IV of coffee in me all day, but now I typically don't need anymore after my smoothie. It's bananas (pun intended). Plus, I'm less stressed about spending more on produce when I know I'm saving money not buying coffee.
Ok enough shop talk (no idea what that means). Onto the green goo! So this is my basic version, but it varies from day-to-day. Sometimes I use greek yogurt for extra protein instead of almond milk. And sometimes I throw in some blueberries because they make me giggle. I don't have a blender or a juicer (how lame, I know), so I use an immersion blender and it works just fine. Just toss in your goodies, ignore the leftover chunkies, and chug! Not literally. Savor it people. It's like giving your body a present.
And bam. You are energized and already have your veggies for the day. Which means you can have that cake for dinner! I kid I kid.
Well thanks for having me Kelly! Cheers!
xoxo

Great guest post!!!! Happy Labor Day! :D
You're too sweet. Right back at ya girl! Love your blog! I hope you're relaxing in the sun right now. xo
Nice to meet you Jessica! The green goo looks like something I'd consider drinking for breakfast. Much, much healtier than processed cereals. Great guest again, Kelly, thanks for the introduction to Monster Cakes
I am drinking a green smoothie as I read this! They are my favorite - and you can put ANYTHING in them. My favorite "fall" shake contains butternut squash and cherries.
I make mine almost like that.I freeze my bananas and add 1/4 unsweetened dark cocoa. Never added cucumbers, will do next time I have them.
Great guest post!
Nice to meet you Jessica. I love all the green goodness in your smoothie. I'll have to try it.

What a terrific smoothie! I'm going to the store tomorrow to get the ingredients....I need exactly that sort of jump start! Thanks!
This makes me wonder if I can sneak some spinach into my son's smoothies....hmmmm....looks great. Thank you for sharing Jessica!
Love these fun photos. Now that looks one monster of a green smoothie to wake up to. Amazing change to coffee. I should give this a go instead of the coffee on a drip - you are an inspiration! Great guest post, Kelly and Jessica - lovely to meet you.
Kelly have a great vaca! Jessica this looks so much better than any green drink I have seen yet. Thanks for sharing!

Really beautiful guest post Kelly, nice to meet you Jessica..your smoothie look and sound terrific!
I made the smoothie this morning finally and I loved it!!! I think freezing the bananas might be a good suggestion (from above) for me, since I like my smoothies a bit colder. Loved it though and am rocking through my morning thus far!
