So I know I said this blog would be for healthy recipes, but since I haven't had the time to make anything yet (yes I FINALLY got my booty outside and ran 2 miles tonight!) I wanted to share another great find, thanks to my girl Kristen!! If you're anything like me, you do your absolute best to be healthy all week eating healthy lunches and working out, but when it comes time for the weekend festivities, we FAIL....miserably. It's so hard to find a healthy alcoholic drink to have while hanging out with friends that won't sky rocket your calorie intake! I get so sick of cherry vodka or rum and diets all the time so this new drink is a life saver!
It's called the Skinny Girl Margarita and it was created by Bethenny Frankel from The Real Housewives of New York City. A typical margarita at any given restaurant can have up to 500 calories per drink! Skinny Girl Margarita is only 100 calories for a full 4 oz. serving and is made with all natural ingredients, sweetened with agave nectar and made with premium Blue Agave clear Tequila. To put that into perspective for all you Weight Watchers fans, that's 2 points per serving as opposed to a whopping 10 points for a regular margarita! Makes you really rethink those happy hours at Rio now, huh?? Now I'll be perfectly honest, I bought this and tried my first glass of it poured over ice and about spit it out. I was so dissapointed! It just lacked something and had a strange taste right out of the bottle. I decided to blend a few strawberries in it and.....PERFECTION. It tasted absolutely amazing, has a great taste of tequila with the sweetness of the strawberries and I even rimmed the glass with Splenda, a sugar substitute. You don't have to use strawberries of course, you can use any kind of fruit you like or even squirt a few limes in it to make it a bit sweeter. I highly recommend this drink to all you ladies for those girls nights in or drinking before your night out on the town. Now we just have to get the bars to start carry this and we'll be set!! Hope you like it and let me know what you think!
